- Flat - caricature - 1 characteristic but really over the top
          - archetype - 2-3 characteristics

The Landlady -

Billy thinks that the landlady is a caricature (crazy old lady ) but the reader knows she's is a archetype  ( kind but also a killer ).  But by the end we realise she a round character.

Billy - Polite/Honest
         - Trusting
         - Curious                          = Round character
         - Naive/ innocent

Landlady - kind
                - secretive
                - sweet
                - manipulative - the landlady is to Billy as a fisherman is to a fish

Both characters are round
